Portable Document Format (PDF) to go to ISO

Adobe, the company owning PDF, has decided to release the specification to AIIM, the Enterprise Content Management Association.

PDF has become the de facto standard for distributing documents over the web. It already provides support for web technologies, rich media and XML.

It is a great move from Adobe, the company who invented the format in early 1990s. The Acrobat Reader used to read PDF was released by the company as a free tool more than a decade ago. So, this is the logical next step for the company, albeit somewhat late!

Now, open those dirty restroom doors with your foot!

“Monk”, the obsessive compulsive detective, will love this invention.
Steve Arnold and Leighton Harvey from Arilington, Texas have invented Footpull, a device which allows you to use your feet to open restroom doors. So, you don’t need to use your hands to open those dirty restroom doors, and worry constantly about contamination of your hands!

The Footpull is fastened to the door’s bottom. It is like a handle for your foot. Arnold and Harvey plans to develop one for refrigerator doors as well.

The Footpull web page is available here.
