Inventor: Dr. Yoshiro Nakamatsu
Invention: Love Jet
Inventor’s Location: Tokyo, Japan
This time, we are looking at an invention which was first invented almost two decades ago – Love Jet, invented by Dr. Yoshiro Nakamatsu. Just a couple of weeks back, he introduced a new version of it.
So what is Love Jet? According to Dr Nakamats (He prefers to be called Nakamats, rather than Nakamatsu), it is a solution to Japan’s declining birth rate. Love Jet is said to boost a woman’s level of dehydroepiandrosterone (a hormone) when applied near and around her reproductive organs. In the new version, it has a dispenser that is smaller, making it perfect for her handbag. Dr Nakamats says, “Women always want to have a beautiful body and skin. This product makes them feel beautiful inside and out.”
You need to know this about Dr Nakamats – he won an Ig Nobel Prize in 2005 for his practice of photographing each meal he has eaten since the age of 42. Just for those who do not know, to win an Ig Nobel Prize, you are supposed to do something that first makes people laugh, then makes them think. And he believes he will live upto the age of 144!
He says one meal per day is ideal, and that meal itself should be low in oil and around 700 calories. Coffee should not be taken. The number of sleeping hours should be limited to six. He also encourages a steady intake of Rebody 55, a dietary supplement which is yet another of his inventions.
So who is Dr Nakamats? He is the author of dozens of books. And he has 3,000-plus (yes, you read that right – three thousand!) inventions to his credit, including work on the floppy disk and automatic pachinko machine. So, when he says something, it is better to keep an open mind.
According to him, his design process for an invention consists of a theory, a practical aspect, and inspiration. If something does not have these three elements, then it is not an invention, according to Dr Nakamats. And according to him, inspiration is triggered by a flash of thought that eventually develops into the actual invention.
